Brown ground beef in skillet or pan with onion. Drain. Add meat back to pan, mix with tomato sauce, water, ketchup, chili beans, chili powder, garlic and cumin. Simmer on low for at least 30 minutes.
Serve with shredded cheddar cheese.
Granny's recipe, it likely came off of the back of a can of chili beans, but the family always liked this because it was more soupy than a traditional chili. Granny would make this on Halloween because it could sit on the stove while she was handing out candy to trick-o-treaters.
